Abstract

The increased governmental, societal, and commercial security concerns since the events of 9–11 have led for greater calls to prevent future acts of terrorism. Many of these requests have been understood within the context of counter-terrorism. Counter-terrorism, the use of intelligence, and security assets in reaction to terrorism is always an after the incident response. Anti-terrorism, the use of intelligence in conjunction with other preventive measures – a proactive response – should be the preferred manner in dealing with terrorism. By adapting processes and procedures from corporate and retail loss prevention it is possible to conceptualize and develop a method of anti-terrorism to more effectively control the threat of terrorism
