Abstract
The antegrade colonic enema (ACE) is a useful management option for patients with difficult defaecatory disorders. However, it requires a high level of self-care, especially in the initial period when patients are establishing their irrigation routines. The following paper discusses the importance of patient selection, education, and outlines potential problems and solutions which may affect irrigation efficacy.
