Abstract

Through the quality, innovation, productivity and prevention (QIPP) agenda, the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement aims to help its staff work more efficiently. The ultimate goal is to free up time for direct patient care, and improve patient safety and experiences. In 2006, the institute launched a project to encourage all pre-registration healthcare students to develop an awareness of service improvement and understand how to use service improvement tools.
