Abstract
The carbamate insecticides baygon (propoxur), carbaryl (sevin), carbofuran (furadon), methomyl (Dunet), and bendiocarb, etc., are widely used for crop protection. Because of their ready availability they are often misused for homicidal and suicidal purposes in India. During the years 2000 to 2004 Pune Regional Forensic Science Laboratory detected 23 cases of human poisoning involving use of methomyl.
