Abstract

A thin-layer chromatographic study has been performed on 16 naphthalimide dyes, 17 benzanthrone dyes, 20 triazine dyes, and 17 fluorescent brighteners. All these compounds were synthesized for coloring or bleaching polymers; some were able to copolymerize. The most suitable stationary and mobile phases, UV light for detection, and TLC technique for separation, detection, determination, and identification were found. The TLC method was suitable and reliable both for monitoring the synthesis of the compounds and for their analysis and identification during application.
