Abstract

In this work, a new type of silica nanoparticles fluorescent probe (N–Si) was successfully synthesized by grafting the naphthalimide fluorophore to the surface of silica nanoparticles. XRD and scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize N–Si, the results illustrated that we have obtained expected silica nanoparticles. What's more, spectral results indicate that the probe N–Si can be used to quickly detect HClO and shows excellent specificity for it. Importantly, the probe N–Si has been successfully demonstrated for monitoring HOCl in living cells. Our work provided strong evidence for the detection of HOCl in fluorescence imaging.
