Abstract

The goal of this research was to study the effects of thidiazuron (TDZ) on adventitious shoot production from oakleaf hydrangea. Leaves were excised from year-old shoot cultures and were cut in half and placed in vitro on MS medium containing 1 μM IBA and 0.05, 0.1, 0.5. 1.0, or 5.0 μM TDZ. Lower concentrations of TDZ resulted in low number of long shoots, whereas the higher concentrations of TDZ resulted in many short adventitious shoots. Shoots were rooted ex vitro and acclimatized to greenhouse conditions.
