Abstract
The increase in the energy gap with decreasing film thickness has been observed and studied in case of thin films of stibnite (Sb 2S 3). Such an increase in energy gap, which is inversely proportional to the square of the film thickness, is attributed to quantum effects. The effective mass of electrons has been estimated to be ((0.5±1.0) m 0 from this study.
