Abstract
It is significant for improving the quality of medium plate to detect the thickness and surface flaws in intermediate cooling process in real time. A novel EMAT&ECT fusion method is proposed to realize three dimensional (3D) imaging for the surface flaws and thickness of medium plate in this paper. EMAT is used for the medium plate thickness measurement, and ECT for surface defects detection. We designed a scanning method for 3D imaging of medium plate, which combines EMAT and ECT. At the same time, the 3D imaging principle of EMAT&ECT fusion testing method is introduced. Results by simulation and experiments showed that the method is feasible using EMAT&ECT for medium plate quality detection in intermediate cooling process.
