Abstract

A helium-neon laser has been used to record holograms in KBr single crystals containing colour centres introduced by electron irradiation. Holograms recorded in crystals with coloured layers between 6 and 500 μm thick have diffraction efficiencies up to 2.3% and show marked orientation sensitivity.
