Abstract

Thirteen British patients have been treated with thiacetazone 150 mg. and isoniazid 300 mg. daily. In six there was evidence of blood or liver damage during treatment. In two there were serious blood changes, in two there were signs of hepato-toxicity and in two both the liver and the blood were affected. Twelve patients with resistant cultures were given thiacetazone as part of a triple or quadruple regime, but without isoniazid except for one case. There were no toxic manifestations. Thiacetazone together with isoniazid should not at present be regarded as a treatment of first choice in Britain.
