Abstract

Abstract The aim of this work was to estimate the thermostability, at high temperature (1000°C), of ceramic-like glasses manufactured from the vitrification of ultimate fumes filtration waste collected after the incineration of domestic waste (called in French REFIOM). Thermal treatments under neutral atmosphere at 1100°C and 1500°C during 30 minutes were performed. The textural and structural characterization at different scales allowed to reveal the thermal evolution of materials, according to their chemical composition. At 1100°C, all the matrials are thermally metastable, whereas at 1500°C heterogeneities of thermal behaviour were observed related to the manufacturing temperature. Consequently, the thermostability of some materials allows their use as composites.
