Abstract

1. Body temperatures, water influxes and metabolic rates were determined for free-living Komodo Dragons ( Varanus komodoensis) on Komodo Island, Republic of Indonesia. 2. Body temperatures, daily activity patterns and variations in water influx rates were similar to those of other species of varanid lizards. 3. Field metabolic rates were higher than predicted values.
