Abstract

The temperature dependence of the thermopower of RAl 2, R = Gd, Y (MgCu 2-structure), RCu 2, R = Gd, Y (CeCu 2- structure), RNi, R = Gd, La (CrB-structure) and R 4Co 3, R = Gd, Y (Ho 4Co 3-structure) is presented. The Al, Cu and Ni compounds belong to the category of metallic compounds in which d-electrons play a minor role. In the R-Co compound a pronounced influence on thermopower of d-electrons can be expected. The experimental results in the isostructural magnetic and non-magnetic compounds will be compared for estimating the influence of magnetic order on thermopower in these four selected systems.
