Thermophysiological simulations with Newton manikin equipped with a power assisted filtering device in cold environments

Abstract

• In cold environment the respirator has the effect to decrease the considered temperatures; • The effect of the respirator is mainly evident for the face temperature, less for head and mean skin temperatures, reduced for rectal temperature . • Body movements tend to lower temperatures with respect to the corresponding static conditions. • The respirator in cold environment may produce discomfort for the face (face sensation is very cold). • The metabolic rate greatly influences the thermophysiological response.
