Abstract

The anodic dissolution of aluminum is studied. A mechanism for the process is proposed and confirmed experimentally. As evidence for this mechanism, it is established that the Nernst–Peters equation can be used to calculate the equilibrium potential of the anodic oxidation of water, which allows determination of the real temperature in the reaction zone.
