Abstract

PVC and molybdenum compounds—ammonia octamolybdate and zinc molybdate—were obtained. Thermophysical and mechanical properties of the obtained compounds were investigated. It was found that introduction of molybdateds into PVC plasticate leads to the decrease of the rate and amount of heat and smoke emission during combustion of the compound. It was shown that molybdenum compounds influence the processes in the polymeric matrix during combustion of the compound and on mechanical and rheological characteristics of the compound, improve the workability and mechanical properties of the polyvinylchloride compound, and do not influence the compound density which stays, within the range of allowable values.
