Abstract

The thermoluminescence of the crystalline and glassy forms of Li 2O:2B 2O 3 and of the crystalline and glassy forms of Li 2O:2.7B 2O 3, doped with various concentrations of divalent and tetravalent manganese, was investigated. Changing sample stoichiometry changes TL sensitivity, with the greatest TL intensity being found for the crystalline Li 2O:2B 2O 3 containing 0.1% manganese impurity. Among the glasses, the Li 2O:2.7B 2O 3 composition has the greatest TL intensity. The thermoluminescence vs. exposure curves are linear between 30 and 10 5R for all glasses tested, a fact that could be useful in high dose measurements.
