Abstract

Eu3+ doped SnO2/Fe2O3 and SnO2/ZnO composites are synthesized by combustion method. The particle morphology of the composites was investigated by using field emission scanning electron microscopy. Thermoluminescence (TL) study was carried out after exposing the samples to γ- irradiation in the dose range 1–5kGy. The TL glow curves of Eu3+ doped SnO2/Fe2O3 and SnO2/ZnO composites exhibit a prominent peak at 158°C and 96°C and a small hump at 310°C and 155°C respectively. The intensity of the glow peak increases linearly in the studied dose range of γ-ray. A comparative study was reported for kinetic parameters such as order of kinetics, trap depth and frequency factor associated with the glow peak that are determined by various glow curve methods. The values of the kinetic parameters obtained by different glow curve methods are in good agreement.
