Abstract

The ZnGa2O4:Ca and ZnGa2O4:Dy nanocrystals are synthesized by sol-gel method and their thermoluminescence and dosimetric characteristics have been investigated. The main TL glow peaks of ZnGa2O4:Ca and ZnGa2O4:Dy are observed at about 180 °C and 200 °C, respectively. The molar ratio of both dopants (Ca and Dy) was varied from 1 mol% to 9 mol%. It was found that the optimum concentration of both dopants is about 2 mol%, where the sensitivity of ZnGa2O4:Dy nano particles is 1.5 times higher than ZnGa2O4:Ca samples. Moreover, the linearity dose response of dosimetric peak follows a good linearity up to 5 kGy in both activated nanocrystals. The results of presented nanophosphors suggest the good candidates towards dosimetric applications.
