Abstract
We report an analytical and numerical study of the separation of the components of a binary mixture in a vertical circular porous annulus. Uniform fluxes of heat are applied on the vertical walls of the enclosure, In the formulation of the problem, use is made of the Darcy model while the density variation is taken into account by the Boussinesq approximation. The problem is solved analytically on the basis of the parallel flow, valid in the limit of a slender enclosure. Results are obtained in terms of the optimum separation conditions as a function of Rayleigh and Lewis numbers, separation parameter and the curvature parameter
