Abstract

1. Only one exothermic effect was found in a thermographic investigation of the isomerization of cyclic phosphorous esters containing a six-membered ring under the action of alkyl halides. Investigation of the products formed after the exothermic effect showed them to be cyclic alkylphosphonic esters. Cyclic phenyl trimethylene phosphite formed an exception. When treated with methyl iodide it gave 3-iodopropyl phenyl methylphosphonate. 2. The nature of the hydrocarbon group of the ester affects the course of the isomerization.
