Abstract

Fourteen monocarbonyl compounds such as aldehydes, methyl ketones, 2-alkenals and 2,4-alkadienals were isolated by the thermofractographic method from bone grease, tankage grease and degras, which may be used as feed fat. These compounds were identified as 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazones using thin layer chromatography and UV spectra. The changes in composition of the monocarbonyl compounds during storage and raffination of these fats was also investigated.
