Abstract

A new dye-sensitized solar cell based on a thermoelectric Bi2Te3/TiO2 composite anode is demonstrated, in which the incorporated Bi2Te3 nanoplates function as built-in nanoscale electron generators to convert “waste heat” to electricity and as a good photoreaction catalyst to enhance the charge transfer rate, resulting in 28% improvement of the overall power conversion efficiency.
