Abstract
A thermodynamic study of the In2O3–ZnO quasi-binary system was performed by Knudsen effusion mass spectrometry in isothermal conditions at 1428 K. The Zn7In2O10 and Zn5In2O8 compounds which are stable at that temperature were determined to vaporize incongruently so that only ZnO transfers into the gas phase. The vapor composition and partial pressures of the vapor species were determined and the component activities were computed in different phase fields of the system. Standard Gibbs energies and standard enthalpies of some heterogeneous reactions involving Zn7In2O10 and Zn5In2O8 as well as the standard enthalpies of formation of the compounds were calculated.
