Abstract

The magnetization, specific heat and entropy of the Coqblin-Schrieffer model for S = 3/2 in the presence of a magnetic field, obtained previously by solving numerically the thermodynamic Bethe-ansatz equations, are compared to recent experiments on Ce impurities in LaB6, where the cubic crystal field is believed to lead to a Г8 ground-multiplet. Discrepancies are attributed to a splitting of the Г8-quartet.
