Abstract

Thermodynamics of liquid-phase sintering composite materials consisting of refractory particles and low-melting point binders has been discussed. Relations of the Helmholtz free energy have been derived for the processes of the particle rearrangement, formation of a refractory skeleton, and coalescence. The existence of the shrinkage pressure in the volume of a compact being sintered has been substantiated. The relation of the shrinkage pressure has been derived.
