Abstract

Abstract Surendranath, K.N., Krishnaiah, A. and Ramakrishna, M., 1992. Thermodynamics of binary mixtures containing cyclic ethers. Part III. Excess enthalpies of oxolane and 1,4-dioxane with chloroethanes and chloroethenes. Fluid Phase Equilibria, 71: 169-176. Molar excess enthalpies, HE, at 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure are reported for ten binary liquid mixtures containing oxolane (tetrahydrofuran) and 1,4-dioxane as common components and 1,2-dichloroethane, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane, trichloroethene and tetrachloroethene as non-common components. All the systems are characterized by exothermic mixing over the entire composition range except for the mixtures of 1,4-dioxane with tetrachloroethene, for which HE is positive. The HE data are interpreted on the basis of possible intermolecular interactions between unlike molecules.
