Abstract

In the initial stage of the evolution of an irreversible process, the kinetic effects arising due to the rapid changes in the state variables are important. On the basis of Gyarmati's wave approach of the Onsagerian thermodynamics we derive the second order hydrodynamic equations which incorporate such kinetic effects and as a consequence predict the propagation of thermal viscous disturbances at finite wave speed.
