Abstract

The Lielmezs-Merriman (LM)-modification of the Peng-Robinson (PR) equation of state has been applied to the entire P- V- T surface except the critical iostherm. The applicability of this modification has been presently tested for the saturated and subcritical regions by comparing its predictions of thermodynamic properties (vapour pressure, liquid and vapour volumes, departure functions - Δ H, Δ A, Δ G, Δ S and Δ U, and fugacity) of pure compounds with the experimental data and calculations made by the Soave-Redlich-Kwong (SRK) and Peng-Robinson (PR) equations of state.
