Abstract

We present a new approach to deal with the one-dimensional (1D) Heisenberg spin chain with spin S = 1. In this approach, by means of the discretized path-integral representation (DPIR), the one-dimensional quantum spin Heisenberg chain is transformed into a classical spin system. Then we use the double-chain approximation (DCA) to calculate the free energy and thermodynamic properties of the Heisenberg spin chain.
