Abstract
The Gibbs free energies of mixing have been measured over the entire composition range for the following molten binary chloride mixtures: LiCl + MgCl 2, LiCl + CaCl 2 LiCl + SrCl 2, LiCl + CeCl 3, LiCl + PbCl 2, NaCl + MgCl 2, NaCl + CaCl 2, NaCl + SrCl 2, NaCl + BaCl 2, NaCl + CeCl 3, KCl + MgCl 2, KCl + CaCl 2, KCl + SrCl 2, KCl + BaCl 2, and KCl + CeCl 3. Results were obtained from e.m.f. measurements on cells of the following type: ▪ where Me I represents the alkali metals Li, Na, or K, and Me II represents an alkaline earth metal or lead.
