Abstract

Densities and viscosities of mixtures of N,N-dimethylformamide with 2-propanol, 2-butanol, 2-pentanol, 2-hexanol, and 2-heptanol have been measured as a function of composition range at T=(298.15, 303.15, 308.15, 313.15)K and atmospheric pressure. Excess molar volumes VmE and viscosity deviations Δη were calculated and correlated by the Redlich–Kister type function. The statistical associating fluid theory (SAFT), and perturbed chain statistical associating fluid theory (PC-SAFT) were applied to correlate and predict the volumetric behavior of the mixtures. The best predictions were achieved with the PC-SAFT equation of state. Also the Peng–Robinson–Stryjek–Vera (PRSV) equation of state (EOS) has been used to predict the binary viscosities.
