Abstract
Excess enthalpies, excess Gibbs free energies, and excess volumes have been measured for 2-propanol + 2-bromopropane. The results indicate that the interaction of an alcoholic OH group with a CHBr group is of less importance than the interaction with a ketone group. This leads to stronger association of the alcohol in mixtures with 2-bromopropane than in mixtures with acetone, resulting in more positive excess enthalpies in the latter at high mole fractions of alcohol.
