Abstract

With the aim of modeling the vanadium partitioning behavior in iron and steelmaking process, the steelmaking slags model/database was extended for covering the vanadium. In this paper, the binary CaO-VOx, SiO2-VOx and ternary CaO-SiO2-VOx systems were assessed and optimized based upon available phase equilibrium and thermodynamic data. The Generalized Central Atom (GCA) Model was used for describing the liquid slag phase while all intermediate vanadium containing solid phases are treated as stoichiometric compounds. During the optimization, effort was focused on the slag liquidus and its primary solid phases. The obtained model parameters can represent the reliable experimental data reasonably well. The sub-solidus regions at low temperature are not well assessed.
