Abstract

Thermodynamic description of the ternary Cu–Fe–Zn system is presented. The thermodynamic parameters of the sub-systems, Cu–Fe, Cu–Zn and Fe–Zn, are taken from earlier SGTE-based assessments, and those of the ternary Cu–Fe–Zn system are optimized in this study by using the experimental zinc activity and phase equilibrium data. Due to the lack of experimental data from iron-rich alloys, the validity of the present description is verified only for Cu–Zn-rich alloys.
