Abstract
Phase equilibria and thermodynamic data of the Mg–Pr system were assessed using the Calphad-method based on a critical review of the experimental data. A simple subregular solution model for the liquid phase is sufficient for a quantitative thermodynamic description and short-range order need not to be assumed in the Mg–Pr melt. A quantitative description of the phase equilibria in the important Mg-rich side is provided and some aspects on the Pr-rich side are also improved in the present description, compared to previous work, even though simpler models have been used.
