Abstract

The behavior of the production of entropy and the interrelations of the force and the flux for the nonstationary thermal problem when there is no temperature gradient is investigated using the electrostatic levitation method. A breakdown in the linearity of the relation between the force and the corresponding flux is found when the bilinear relation between the entropy production density and the force and flux is preserved. The conditions for which the linearity is retained are found.
