Abstract

Physical properties of PrAg2Si2, crystallizing in the tetragonal ThCr2Si2-type crystal structure, was investigated by means of magnetic, calorimetric and electrical transport measurements. The compound was found to order magnetically below 14K, and exhibit two subsequent order–order magnetic phase transitions at 11.5K and 8K. The low-temperature magnetic structure encloses a substantial ferromagnetic component but the exact nature of the different spin arrangements in PrAg2Si2 remains unclear. The compound is a good metallic conductor.
