Abstract

On the basis of thermodynamic considerations CCl 4 has been selected as a transporting agent for Y 3Fe 5O 12 (YIG) and favourable transport conditions have been estimated. The effective transport proceeds at the initial concentration of CCl 4, c 0 & 2-3 mg/cm 3 , and at temperatures about 1200 K from the hot to the cold zone. YIG single crystals in the form of isometric polyhedrons with maximum dimensions up to 4 mm have been obtained in the closed system. CCl 4 transports YIG congruently. No hematite crystals have been found in the crystallization zone.
