Abstract

The heats of reactions between a gllycylglycine solution and a cadmium(II) nitrate solution at various pH values and [metal]: [ligand] ratios were measured by direct calorimetry. Temperature was varied from 288.15 to 308.15 K; KNO3 was used as a background electrolyte. The heats of dilution of cadmium nitrate solution in background electrolyte solutions were also measured in order to make the proper corrections. The standard thermodynamic parameters of complex formation between the peptide and cadmium(II) ion in water solution were calculated.
