Abstract

The alkaline lamellar titanates (K 2 Ti 4 O 9 and Na 2 Ti 3 O 7 ) obtained from solid state reactions react with acid solutions producing a partial ion exchange of the ions K + and Na + present in the interlamellar region by protons H + , producing the titanate acid forms. These materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy and thermal analyses (TG/DTA).
