Abstract

Results of optical, EPR and acoustical EPR investigations of Y3Al5O12 crystals undoped and doped with iron-group ions are presented. Optical and structural properties of reduced and oxidized crystals and its transformations under intense light irradiation in the UV and visible range are investigated. The energy levels of the Fe3+, Fe2+ impurity ions and of the related F+ and F centres are studied. The first observation of the F centres and Cr4+ ions is presented.
