Abstract

In this paper, based on the hyperbolic equation of heat conduction, using the image method, the wave function expansion method and the complex function method, a general solution of the scattered field of thermal waves from the cylindrical subsurface inclusion in the semi-infinite slab was obtained. The matrix formulation to solve the mode coefficients of thermal waves was employed. The frontal surface temperature of the slab under different geometrical and physical parameters was analyzed and illustrated graphically. In addition, the thermal wave was excited by the modulated ultra-short laser at the frontal surface of the slab. The results of the paper are expected to provide data references and calculation methods for the physical inverse problem and non-destructive evaluation of subsurface inclusion in solid materials.
