Abstract

AbstractThe present work is concerned with the steady state two‐dimensional thermal stress problems in a thick circular cylinder having a polygonal hole under an uniform heat generation having thermally insulated outer boundary. In the present problems, the analysis is carried out by using the complex variable approach proposed by Gatewood. Thus, we may show that the present method yields reliable solution at the inner boundary, because of the sufficient satisfaction of the temperature and traction boundary conditions at the inner boundary.
