Abstract

A linear thermoelastic problem is solved for a uniform heat flow disturbed by an insulated circular hole placed in an infinite strip which is heated so that the surfaces of the strip may be maintained at two different temperatures. By cancelling the relative displacements caused by the presence of the hole and preserving the continuity across the interior surface, a solution for the problem is obtained and the stress distributions given by the numerical calculations are shown in figures.
