Abstract

ABSTRACT In this article, the thermal stability of TiC–Ti3AlC2 and TiC–Ti3AlC composites during selective laser sintering/melting is studied. The phase composition evolution after laser processing is investigated and the structure of the obtained samples is also described. Samples were obtained by selective laser sintering/melting from mixtures of commercial powders and from a synthesised composite powder. It is possible to maintain most of the MAX-phase using the laser processing parameters described; in addition, the intermetallic phase is formed.
