Abstract

Six model compounds have been heat treated in nitrogen and air atmospheres at temperatures between 250 and 450/degree/C for 1--4 hours. The treatments were carried out in microautoclave reactors according to the procedure outlined in the previous reports. The thermal treatments in air were carried out under 100 psig cold air pressure at 350 and 400/degree/C. Some observations on the appearance of the reaction products are described. The reaction products from the thermal treatments in nitrogen have been analyzed by NMR and GC-MS. The results of these analyses are discussed. The NMR analysis of the reaction products from the treatments in air will be presented in the next report. 11 figs., 6 tabs.
