Abstract

A thermal simulation model for transient process of the coolant temperature regulation system in a combustion engine test bench is presented. The simulation model has been implemented in a MATLAB environment with SIMULINK tools. The model includes a reciprocating combustion engine, a heat exchanger and a regulation system. The regulation system consists of a PID temperature regulator that actuates on a flow regulation valve. An experimental test has been performed, the simulated results are compared with the experimental data. Finally, a study of the influence of different parameters of the system have been performed.
