Abstract

Novel disilanylene-bridged paracyclophanes, (SiR2SiR2−C6F4)2, were prepared by the reactions of the corresponding 1,2-dichlorodisilanes with 1,4-dilithiotetrafluorobenzene. Thermolysis of the paracyclophanes at 300 °C gave the corresponding poly(disilanylene-1,4-phenylene) species, (SiR2SiR2−C6F4)n, via homolytic Si−Si bond cleavage.
